HIstory

1954
OCME, whose name means Emilian workshop for metal constructions, was founded in 1954, a period of great entrepreneurial effervescence. Italy came out of World War II wounded, but with many hopes and with a strong will to begin all over again. At first OCME manufactured systems and equipment for the tomato processing industry. In 1958 with the first fillers emerged the propensity for packing and filling machines, which are today the cornerstone of OCME’s manufacturing programme. Since the ‘50’s OCME have relied upon people as a fundamental resource for success. Some of these people are still with the OCME company today, and give, as an invaluable contribution, their global knowledge of OCME’s market.
1960 - 1970
At the beginning of the ‘60’s OCME started making a name for themselves in the lubricating oil sector, which was growing steadily thanks to the increasing number of cars.  On the sales side OCME were very successful in the French market. Those were years of great entrepreneurial dreams, of enthusiasm, of the first important international successful results. Those were years of hard work, when attention was paid to building a solid future rather than earning immediate profits. OCME’s excellent reputation became established and some of the customers of this time continue today to choose OCME for their reliability.
1970 - 1980
The world changes, consumers change, technology makes progress. An unprecedented innovation revolutionized the packing world: the wrap-around packer. Electronics entered the filling and packing systems and doors were opened to industrial innovation. OCME obtained important orders from the Spanish market and from the demanding and meticulous British market. In those years the machines started to be adjusted to products and not the other way around. The first sack palletisers were an absolute novelty: they could rotate the product according to specific needs. This feature forestalls the present requirements of the retail distribution to present stable pallets with products laid out to improve visibility and accessibility for consumers.
1980 - 1990
OCME conquered the markets of North and South America, starting a long term relationship that still lasts today. Amongst the most important innovations of those years was the multilayer palletiser, which could palletise up to 8 different products on 8 pallets. Other innovations allowed the creation of high speed lines for edible oils as an answer to producers’ requirements for better performance.
1990 - 2000
Flexibility became a crucial point for all firms. Informatics and electronics allowed a new approach to system building. In 1994 appeared packing lines with automatic format change, which allowed reduced labour requirement and machine downtime. This guaranteed the fl exibility that all companies in all sectors were requiring. This feature is particularly appreciated in the tissue sector, in which OCME became established thanks also to the introduction of robot palletisers. Shrinkwrappers are redesigned and the famous Vega appeared, with major  innovations in the film cut and oven sections.
2000 - 2010
In an increasingly competitive context OCME continue to manufacture high technology and distinguished solutions. The robot gripper heads are subject to continuous studies and research. Among the most interesting results is the layer gripper head, which allows robots to pick a whole layer at a time, even with unstable configurations. Traditional palletisers have been redesigned in order to improve standardisation and to manufacture metal frames that can be easily customized. Thanks to electronics introduction, the weight filler Libra has an incredible performance and a record precision. Auriga, the new laser guided shuttle car, opens new prospects for logistics and system automation.
2010 - 2020
Those first 60 years of history are the starting point for future challenges. We can count on an advanced structure and on people who have been working for OCME since the beginning. We have created an environment that allows ideas to grow and experience to successfully face problems. OCME design, manufacture and install solely their own machines for their own projects, as a single structure and a single centre of competence in the packaging world. Those 50 years are the history of world industry, which has grown with OCME and continues to grow facing new markets, new uncertainties and new issues. Today, together with Robopac, industries all over the world know that if they want to accomplish an ambitious project or to solve a problem there is only one partner they can turn to and it will be there for many years to come!
From today to the future
When OCME started in 1954 there were only 5 people working at the Via del Popolo factory. Now as part of Aetnagroup, OCME is renowned internationally and respected by everybody: customers, competitors, authorities and employees. Respect and reputation are the fruits of the work of those who have followed the instructions of Aureli's family. OCME is the result of the work of directors, technicians, sales managers and factory workers, who overcame every challenge. These same people have continued to contribute to both the local Italian and International packaging industry and their ongoing effort benefits the entire sector.

(Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers' Association),
since 2009.

            

UCIMA is the national trade association that represents and supports the Italian packing and packaging machinery manufacturers. It is a member of the Italian Employers' Federation Confindustria, making it an integral part of Italian industry's representation system.

 

 

ABMI 

Since 2015 OCME has been a member of ABMI  (Association of the Beverage Machinery Industry),  composed of the main Beverage machinery European manufacturers active in Europe. 

 The purpose of this Association is to provide an exchange point for communication and cooperation within the manufacturing industry in the areas of quality, security, elaboration of recommendations etc. 

AIM Progress

OCME, in order to better respond to the responsible procurement needs of its customers, in 2012 adhered to the SMETA 4 pillars certification, which enabled it to verify the compliance of its corporate practices with the following four areas:
